Processed Plastic Wells Fargo Stagecoach

Here is a terrific stagecoach from Processed Plastic. They made this in a couple of color variants and I'm pretty sure there's an all brown version buried out in The Cave somewhere but I din't feel like mounting an archeological dig to find it LOL It has opening doors to accomodate riders (MPC 60mm ringhands would fit in here nicely - but the peg-butt ringhands would need to have the pegs cut off), molded on baggage on top and the horse hitch has a fifth wheel guide allowing for smooth rolling across a flat surface. The seated driver is a bit tricky to measure but after fiddling with the ruler, it appears he's 60mm.

Overall length is 11", Stagecoach body 5 1/2"L x 4"H x 2 1/2" W. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Multiple Toymakers Set No. 804 Stagecoach Attack

Here's a nice compact little playset from Multiple Toymaker's, the No. 804 Stagecoach Attack in a tote style box. The set as I bought it had the stagecoach designed for Multiple's 60mm ringhands with the 60mm driver but the remaining figures were the smaller 45mm non-ringhand type. As seen in other Multiple playsets I've posted here, the mix of 60mm & 54mm figures was not an uncommon practice. The set is incomplete as it is missing horses for the cowboys and Indians as well as the stagecoach driver - all of which I have somewhere out in the spares bin. There are 5 cowboys and 5 Indians (and there should be three horses for the riders provided), a tepee consisting of a printed plastic sheet which fits over a molded plastic frame, and of course the stagecoach. The MPC stagecoach featured in yesterday's post is actually from another playset and has a one-horse hitch, while this one has a two-horse hitch but you can see the type of driver it would have accomodated. The box is made from a lightweight cardboard and you can see where the flimsy handle is separated on one side - however, the box has survived in okay shape so that's a plus! Enjoy! Opa Fritz

From yesterday's post: this stagecoach has a one-horse hitch but the drivers would have been the same - and I do have more of them in The Cave

MPC Stagecoach

MPC made some awesome toys back in the day and I had a bunch of them as a kid, but while I had their cowboys and Indians the stagecoach eluded me. Stagecoaches came in many styles from various manufacturers and not all resembled the Wells Fargo type that we tend to associate with the breed, but Wells Fargo did have a similar one to MPC's as shown in the Wikipedia image below. Apparently the earliest reference to stagecoaches comes from around 1200 in England so they were around a lot longer before they became famous in countless Western films and TV shows of the 20th century.

MPC's version is meant to accomodate their 60mm ringhand figures and measures 9 1/2" (24.13cm) L overall with the horse hitched up x 4" (10.16cm) H x 2 1/2" (6.35cm) W. While I was able to place repo bandanas on the figures, the repo hats I had lept popping off! LOL Oh well. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Classic Toy Soldiers (CTS) Covered Wagon - Gray-Gray - Rolled Tarp

Here's the CTS covered wagon with the sides of the tarp shown rolled up. This was one of the single best improvements in toy covered wagons to have come along in years. Also, this series of photos show the driver which came with the wagon as well as the accessories. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Besides the barrel and tool chest hanging from the sides of the wagon, this comes with a 'metal' pan, bucket, and lantern

Here's a comparison shot of the CTS covered wagon and the Marx buckboard
