Hitachi Lockheed 'Jet Star' CL-329

We've got a real nice tin-litho Air Force plane from most probably the early 1960s. This Lockheed JetStar from Hitachi is based on the real life C-140 built by Lockheed. In 1957 the JetStar was the first aircraft to be designed from the start as a dedicated business jet but sixteen were ultimately produced for Air Force use starting in 1962 and remained in service with the Air Force until the 1990s.

The Hitachi version follows the standard two-piece design of tin-litho aircraft by having a fuselage and removable wing section containing the friction motor. It measures 7" (17.8cm) L x 7 1/8" (18.1cm) WS x 2 3/4" (7cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Archer Space People Set No. 129

For the past whole bunch of weeks we've been featuring the first seven space figures produced by Archer which they called the "Men of Tomorrow". In the scant three years they produced space toys (1953-56) several more series appeared. The one we'll look at next is their "Space People' which included the first seven poses but added three woman and a space boy. Even back then, Archer was trying to colonize the cosmos with entire families.

Today's set, No. 129, only has three figures, but there were other sets with more figures and of course they were sold individually as bin toys. We'll post these three figures first over the next few weeks and then cover a few more. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

No wonder so few boxes survived - the backs were perforated so that it could be separated into four trading cards
