I first started covering these soft plastic HG Toys spaceships back in 2013, with a couple of updates over the years. I didn't know much about HG Toys and, at the time, didn't know whether these were bin toys or came in a set, or what? I can add a bit more to the story now.
The genesis for the design appeared in 1968 as part of a Project Sword comic strip showing up as a Pleasure Cruiser.
Later, Tri-ang would license Multiple Toymaker's to sell the Spacex line here in the States as the Golden Astronaut series.
Somewhere along the line, HG Toys would copy the basic design and produce it in soft plastic. They deleted the engine compartment and added a vertical stabilizer but it is essentially the same design. HG called it an 'Alien Space Cruiser' vs. Tri-ang's 'Pleasure Cruiser'. I'm aware of the inclusion of these spaceships in HG Toys playsets, but do not know if they were included in bags of toys or as bin toys, etc.

As for as I know, they made the ship in copper and silver SP.
