Here's the last installment of the Nellis Aviation Nation Air Show for 2014. We hope you've enjoyed the photos and we certainly would like to do it again next year. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
Nearing The End
C-47 Skytrain
By now we're starting to wear out, and quite frankly can't wait 'til it's over. BUT we doggedly continue our trek becuase there's always something to see just down the flightline :-)
Rescue By Helicopter
By now another demnstration has started. This time an HH-60 extracts aircrew from a 'crash' site
C-130J Hercules
TC-135S Cobra Ball
E-3 Sentry (aka AWACS)
KC-135 Stratotanker
KC-10 Extender
F-35 Lightning II Demonstration
OOPS! I mistakenly labled this as an F-35 - it is in fact the F-22 Raptor
The F-22 Raptor is a twin engine plane while the F-35 is single engine. Also, the F-22 has a more pronounced canopy while the F-35's canopy is more in-line with the fuselage spine.
We were at the very end of the runway with only one more static display to catch when the F-35 F-22 started strutting its stuff
C-5 Galaxy
The C-5 was the very last display (or very first if you entered the show from the north end of the flightline)
Look at the size of those engines dwarfing the crowd underneath
The original plan was to take a slow walk back, catching static displays we missed along the way, but we were pooped!! Opting to take the tram back to our starting point we grabbed a couple of quick shots along the way.
Unknown
T-1A Jayhawk
This was right where we came in to the airshow but I never got a photo of it then
USAF Thunderbirds Aerial Demonstration
The Thunderbirds demonstration marks the end of each day's activities and Bettina grabbed a few shots. Understand that we see these guys all the time and after 23 years we have more than our share of pics. But our coverage of this year's air show wouldn't be complete without at least a couple of photos taken during the show.
