TOYSCAPES: Marx Lunar Rover

This Lunar Rover (or Moon Tractor, or, or, or...) from Marx would have come in their small 1/72 scale Moon Exploration playsets. Mine is missing the dome, however, our intrepid explorer is fully suited up so he wouldn't necessarily need to be in an enclosed vehicle for shot trips. The rover is all white (except for the astronaut's uniform) and is camouflaged against the white moonscape. Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

Kinder Surprise Egg #K96-N02 Mini-Moon Buggy WAS UNKNOWN MFR

Yesterday I posted this mini-Moon Buggy as being from an unknown manufacturer. I should have waited. Within a couple hours after posting this to one of my facebook (Meta) groups, a reader identified it as a Ferrero Kinder Surprise Egg toy. He got his information from an obscure (to me) website (shown below). My sample is missing the peel-&-stick applique's on either side of the canopy but that's actually a good thing because I think it looks better without them. Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

Unk Mfr - #K96-N02 Mini-Moon Buggy

Here's another small space toy from an unknown manufacturer. It's a Moon buggy type vehicle marked "K96-N02" on the underside (unfortunately I didn't take photos of the underside, I only noted the markings). Its green and orange plastic reminds me of the JPW Intl #29131 Interchange Robot Set blogged back in 2014. The buggy measures: 1.625" (4.12cm) L x 1.375" (3.49cm) W x 1" (2.54cm) H. Linemar 'Elegant Miniatures' Diecast Moon Buggy

I picked this up last year not really knowing what to expect and was a bit surprised when seeing just how small this was. I wasn't familiar with Linemar's 'Elegant Miniatures' line but after a little digging around, it appears to be their answer to Matchbox's small line of vehicles. Apparently Linemar's 'Elegant Miniature's' never really got a good foothold on the market and there doesn't appear to be many toys offered.  As you can see it was quite a small vehicle - about a third the size of Tri-ang's HO scale  vehicle shown below.  It measures: 1.625" (4.12cm) L x .75" (1.9cm) W x 1.25" (3.17cm). be Blessed and relish Life! LP #704 Lunar Exploration Set

Well, I sure did hit a grand slam with this one: three playsets in one! The set has nine astronaut figures, three vehicles, and a tiny spaceship in a three-compartment window box. No additional terrain pieces or accessories are included. There is no printing on the box back or bottom. The figures are all 1"/30mm H. Of course, LP recycled their toys and the same pieces can be found repackaged in other sets, but it's fun trying to track all these down. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
