1948 Kellogg's Blandings Dream House - Update

Back on January 2nd of this year we featured this terrific model of Mr. Blanding's Dream House by Kellogg's. The house was of course a direct tie-in to the movie of the same name starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. At that time we could only show you the built-up house plus some representative examples from other kits of what would have come with the house. But today we can at last show you exactly what the full kit would have looked like. Unfortunately we don't have an over sized scanner so everything had to be photographed. Enjoy! Fritz and Bettina!

We'll start off with the order form that was found on the boxes of Kellogg's All-Bran cereal. We've shown these before but it's still a good starting point.

The kit is delivered flat in a large illustrated envelope

The end flap contains two additional order coupons to expand your collection

The reverse side is a catalog of available houses

The entire kit consists of: illustrated envelope, two sheets of cardboard with the printed cut-out house, a landscape chart/floorplan, and an illustrated booklet

The landscape chart/floorplan

Illustrated booklet showing interior views of the actual house built for the movie

I did not cut out the house and build it! The photos below are of the built-up house already posted back in January.

Kellogg's 1948 Paper Houses 'All-Bran' Cereal Box

Back in 2011 Toys & Stuff featured a vintage  paper house offered as a mail-in premium by Kellogg's in 1948 - 5-Star Home No. 1510 Home for Beginners . From then until now I have had no luck in acquiring other houses from the series or much of anything else. But this year I've been able to acquire a couple of interesting things. First was the back of a box of Kellogg's 'All-Bran' cereal from 1948 showing a few of the houses in the series. This is what we're featuring today, a scan of the box back as well as the original order coupon which was probably located on the side of the box.
Next, I recently purchased another house in this series. The packaging was kind of like a mini-catalog showing all the houses in this series. It is from this that we can surmise the 1948 Kellogg Village as consisting of the following:
-5 Star Home No. 810 Concrete Colonial
-5 Star Home No. 1006 The Colonial Cottage
-5 Star Home No. 1510 Home for Beginner's
-Cape Cod Modern No. 56
-Town House Modern No. 84
-Suburban Modern No. 95
-Blandings Dream House Kit based on the popular movie, "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy

Apparently these houses were based on a series appearing in 'Better Homes and Gardens' magazine as part of a series on '5 Star' homes. Well, the hunt is on for those magazines, and of course for more houses in this series.

Note: The paper accompanying the latest house purchase has drawings of each house in the series. This 'All-Bran' box back only shows three. The new house will be featured in an upcoming blog post.
