WAS Unk Mfr (Unmarked) - Astronaut 60mm - Yellow SP: NOW Palmer

Yet another of my 'unknown manufacturer' astronauts has been identified thanx to blog reader Hugh Walter! YAY! Three days ago I posted this 60mm yellow soft plastic astronaut as an unknown, but he is most definitely Palmer. That info was on on Toy Soldier HQ website all along, but I have yet to go through each and every one of the gazillion companies and photos posted there so this yellow guy got missed. It's a good thing too, because although Palmer isn't really known for their line of space toys, the set this astronaut came in was really neat. It had a Mercury style capsule, astronauts, ground crew, and even a space monkey as seen in the photo below. Anywho, as with the other positive ID's the files for this figure have been updated. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Spaceship (Palmer Maybe??) - Yellow SP

Here's a series of photos taken five years ago of a spaceship that's been sitting out in The Cave for many years before that. The style is appropriate for either Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon and my guess is that it was made somewhere during the mid-50's to mid-'60s. It measures 3.5" (8.89cm) L x 2" (5.08cm) W x .375" (0.95cm) H and is a yellow soft plastic. There were wheels on it originally, but they weren't on when I purchased it. The small size, soft plastic with wheels are features of Palmer vehicles but there are no markings to prove it and it is not listed in any of my books. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Palmer Cereal Premiums Space Car - Ylw HP

Red gives me grief.

So does green

So does yellow

This is part of my continuous attempts to photograph these primary color toys without having the details get all washed out. This toy was photographed against a Navy blue foamcore board. I ended up having to make adjustments which causes the normally bright lemon yellow to darken somewhat. What I haven't done yet is to photograph these on my Amazon MyStudio set-up.

On to the toy. These come up in eBay from time to time and are listed as Palmer cereal premiums. Okay, for right now I'll go with that because really, I haven't a clue - yet. As time permits I'll try to research these more. They're small, about 1 1/4" long or so (my notes are unavailable now), and they would look great alongside Triang SpacEx or Imperial Toys Golden Astronaut sized toys. For now tho - Enjoy!  Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
