Thomas Toy P-40 Warhawk - Original Series w/wheels - Red SP

I'm still working on that box of tiny planes pulled from The Cave. On Dec 20th we featured a Thomas Toy P-40 Warhawk which was probably a '60s version of a toy they originally produced in the '50s. While the later versions had straight-legged landing gear with no wheels today's original series P-40 has the wheels intact - but missing the prop. The wheels are held on by metal rivets and are of a contrasting color. The planes measurements (if it would have had the prop) would be 3 3/4" (9.52cm) L x 4 1/4" (10.79cm) wingspan x 1 1/2" (3.81cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Thomas Toy P-40 Warhawk

Here's another small airplane from Thomas Toy in the same vein as the Boulton Paul Defiant we featured yesterday. It's obvious that this P-40 Warhawk is from the same series but, as the original's made in the '50s had rotating props and wheels I wonder if Thomas Toy reissued these perhaps in the '60s or '70s using modified molds to make them with less parts, thereby cutting manufacturing costs. Just like the Defiant, this plane measures 3 3/4" (9.52cm) L x 4 1/4" (10.79cm) wingspan x 1 1/2" (3.81cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
