Just another vignette on the Halloween layout done with the train buffs in mind!

 

This Year's Haunted Village (aka Spooky Town) Halloween Set-up - Pt 3

As usually happens with these holiday set-ups, I'll take a few things out to get started, then run trains and take photos, then take some more stuff out, and so-on and so-forth. The BIG news this year is the addition of Lionel's Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine ready-to-run set from 2018. This is an awesome toy and a must-have for the Scooby-Doo fan. It's part of Lionel's LionChief series of sets and designed to be operated from either the included bluetooth hand-held controller or Lionel's LionChief app on your mobile device. There are station announcements and crew talk in Scooby's voice and a monster's voice, and a standard horn sound. However, the bell sound is quite different: rather than the usual train engine bell, it's a recording of a haunting cathedral bell of the type you may hear in Scooby-Doo cartoons! hahahaha Also too, since the last post we have some more vignettes added to the overall scene and all those diminutive 1/64 scale cars were replaced with larger vehicles. The figures are bit all-over-the-place scale-wise but I'm okay with that - they're all there to have fun. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

She played a little, watched the Scooby train and placed a couple of souvenir spiders from the Excalibur Hotel and Casino, and generally reorganised afew things hahahahaha

Lemax Odds-&-Ends

Up 'til now I've been posting Lemax stuff I bought years ago, but this year's layout needed a few more pieces to help flesh it out, things like fences and pumpkins. Lemax Set#73297 2017 Grim Rider

I had been trying to find something along the lines of Nicholas Cage's "Ghost Rider" and if I remember correctly (because it's been a couple years since I got this) they were too pricey for me. However, this Grim Rider from Lemax was a good 'nuff alternative. Because it's such a cool figure, this guy gets the full photo essay treatment. He measures 4 1/2" (11.43cm) L x 3" (7.62cm) H to top of hat. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Here's a cool scene I'm adding to the Halloween layout - the first one I've done in four years. Just a skeleton chillin' out at the boneyard! The base measures 5 1/2" (13.97cm) W x 3 1/2" (9.89cm) D and it's 3 3/4" (9.52cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Lemax - You Can't Go Wrong For Halloween - Lemax Set#54915 2015 Spookytown Tree Stump

You name a theme - other than bloody and needlessly gruesome of course - and Lemax is your go-to  place for Halloween (and Christmas) decorations. I don't plan on buying a whole heck of a lot more, but it's fun perusing the myriad assortment of figures and accessories. This mean looking tree stump - at 2 1/5" (6.35cm) H - is perfect for any haunted forest and the black cat with raised back standing on top is the icing on the cake!  I like how the 'moss' spews out of the stump's mouth looking like green puke hahahahaha  Enjoy! Some More Lemax Stuff For Halloween: Lemax Set#44743 Spookytown This Way From 2014

Wow! It's been four years since my last Halloween set-up! I don't mean to not do holiday set-ups but sometimes life gets in the way and I end up just not feeling like doing anything. However, I have been picking up the odd piece here and there for whatever future project may indeed see the light of day. Over the next few days I'll show some of the Lemax things that flew in the door the past few years. Ya know, I did a quick search on Lemax Spooky Town offerings in fleaBay the other day and it came up with over 12,000 hits!! Holy Cow! Yeah, it's a good bet I'm not gonna be buying that much, but I do search for the whimsical and funny and when something strikes my fancy - and it doesn't cost too much - then I may go for it.

Todays' offering was offered in 2014 but I got it last year or year before last - don't remember now. It's a nice little sign-post to place at my towns' entrance and measures 3 3/8" (8.57cm) H. For some of my Lemax decorations I dispensed with my normal 12-views per photo essay. Gosh, I just don't feel up to it anymore. That being said - Enjoy anyway! :-) Opa Fritz

Lemax Set#04177 2010 Bone Bench

Here's a nifty accessory from Lemax, the Bone Bench. Measuring 2 1/2" (6.35cm) W x 2" (5.08cm) H I have just the right place for it in Spooky Town, unfortunately none of my figures are articulated enough to be able to sit on it but perhaps one day...  Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

The hill this is sitting on used to occupy the Navy Base on my old Marxville and Plateau train layout. Back then it had a Marx plastic barracks sitting on it, now it's home to a haunted house

The hand came from a broken doll of some kind - don't know which though - it was part of some dolls given to my grand baby but ended up being tossed - cuz duh, it was broken! The pumpkins were a fleaBay find - more Lemax???
