MPC 'Silver Dollar' Saloon (Cabin v.1) - Brown / Red / Yellow SP

Back in March 2023 I covered all the MPC Old West buildings I had at the time. A year later, this cabin was offered to me by one of the guys in the Meta (facebook) train groups. He got it with a bunch of trains and this just wasn't his forte'. Here we are now, a year after that and I'm finally circling around again to Western posts. I'm calling this a 'saloon' because that's what I associate with any building that has 'SILVER DOLLAR' emblazoned on the front door! It's in the style of what I've designated a 'version 1' cabin or structure - those MPC cabins that were made with interchangeable fronts fitting over a sturdy heavy-grade soft viny plastic wall set. This example is excellent in that its front door is still intact. Far too often the front doors go missing as they easily break from the wall due to their flimsy hinges. Be Blessed and Relish Life! 1970 Multiple Toymakers W.T. Grant Western Frontier Boxed Playset MPC No. 500 / Grant Item W.T.G. 87700

This is a great little set made by Multiple Toymakers (aka MPC or Miner Industries) and offered by the W.T. Grant Dimestore chain back in 1970. It has everything a little kid needed to play Cowboys and Indians: A Fort for the Cowboys, Teepees for the Indians, two wagons, and a whole bunch of figures. The compact stockade comes in two pieces and sports the Fort Frontier name. The walls are attached at the corners by a sliver-thin piece of plastic allowing them to be folded. The two pieces attach to each other via small tabs. While the wagons included four yellow 60mm ringhand generic driver type figures, the remaining figs were all 45mm. The wagons are oversized when compared with the small figures but hey, this was MPC/Multiple/Miner - scale was not a consideration. Play value was. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Multiple Toymakers No 1233 Castle Attack Playset - U.S.

I hate it when this happens. So last year I was out in The Cave trying to make sense of the mayhem out there and in particular was looking for my Multiple Toymakers Castle Attack playset.  For the life of me I just couldn't find it, however I did happen upon a similar set in fleaBay - one made for distribution in Canada. The price was decent and because it was an interesting variation I went ahead and bought it. It was posted here on the blog back in December 2021.  Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and I'm back out in The Cave and this time doing a box-by-box, shelf-by-shelf, drawer-by-drawer inventory and guess what? Yup, I found that Castle Attack playset I was looking for last year. It was in a drawer, underneath bags of miscellaneous knights!!! Soooo here it is now in all its glory. I photographed the set exactly as I received it (it's missing one of the giant crossbows - I do have an extra out in The Cave though), but appears to be complete otherwise.  Enjoy! Opa Fritz

The set has a nice compliment of 34 knights in three colors along with two horses. They're classified as 40mm but when I place my ruler next to them, they're closer to 45mm! go figure. This set shot only shows one giant crossbow but I do have an extra out in The Cave to flesh out the set.
