Barn Coin Bank

It's not hard to tell that I'm a real fan of tin litho toys,  mostly buildings and aircraft but occasionally other toys as well. What really surprise me at times is the amount of detail or the generally nice quality about the art work that goes into a toy which almost assuredly didn't cost the consumer much at all.  And our latest offering is no exception.  Today we have a nifty little coin bank shaped like a miniature mailbox and decorated like a barn with very attractive graphics.  In size it's comparable to the Ohio Art barn I posted several days ago and thus would look just great on a 3-rail O-gauge toy train layout. or just used as decoration in a country motif - I like items that can be used in a variety of ways. I don't know who made this as there were no maker's mark anywhere but I'm guessing it's both a fairly recent item and made in China.  Enjoy!

U.S. Metal Toy Mfg Co Church Bank

I don't know much about the U.S. Metal Toy Mfg Co. other than they put out a series of small tin litho metal buildings.  Some had a slot in the roof for use as a bank, while others had a series of holes in the roof and were meant as lollipop holders.  In any case they are kinda neat.  Today's selection is the Church coin bank.  Enjoy!

DBF Cottage Bank / Biscuit Tin

Here is a terrific tin litho biscuit tin / bank in the shape of a small cottage.  It's made by the Belgium cookie maker DBF.  Here Stateside we call them cookies, but in Europe they're referred to as 'biscuits' and it is common to offer these tasty treats in all kinds of nifty containers and many times the containers do double duty: first as a container for the cookies, and when the cookies are finished, either a bank or general purpose container.  I prefer to collect the tins that I can use on my tin plate train layout and this is no exception.  It's perfectly sized and matches beautifully with those hoses made by Skyline and H&H Sales.  The last photo shows the DBF container next to a 'Skyline' tin litho house.  Enjoy!
