Burger King "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" - Great Gazoo

The Great Gazoo character was introduced midway through "The Flintstones" original series final season and is considered by many, the moment when the series "jumped the shark" - basically outlived its useable life by featuring or introducing inane or non-sensical aspects. I know that I for one, even though I was just a kid, thought he was just plain stoo-pid :-) I wasn't really crazy about the character and didn't like it when he appeared. Fortunately he only popped up in eleven episodes. He plays an integral role in "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" which is actually a prequel so obviously the producers didn't follow the continuity of the original series.
Now - on to the toy. Like the other toys in this series from Burger King, he looks more like the original  cartoon character than the movie character. As a toy, it's kind of neat. A notched strap is inserted into the side and the saucer is placed atop the building. When holding it in place atop the buildingm the strap is pulled out briskly, and its gyroscopic turning action causes it to spin and balance. It's really a lot of fun, so in this regard I finally give the Great Gazoo his due! Enjoy! From The Berg's :)

Burger King "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" Hatching Dino

Back in 2000 the film "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" was released to rousing, ummmm, disapproval :-( The film was a prequel to the 1994 film "The Flintstones" which was a box office hit but the 'Rock Vegas' incarnation was panned by critics and turned out to be a box office flop earning just over $54million on an $83million budget. If anything good came out of the film it was some of the licensed toy tie-ins like what we'll be showing in the next few weeks.
Today we have a clever little wind-up toy. Hatching Dino is carefully placed inside the egg, the egg is closed and a small wheel on the side of the egg is turned thereby winding a spring inside Dino. When the winding dial is released one hears the timer ticking and in a few seconds the egg splits apart and Dino comes strutting out! I've tried the toy on a couple of different surfaces and the foamcore the toys are placed on is kind of slick and slippery making it hard for Dino to actually 'walk' but after a few tries he cooperated just enough for the video. Speaking of which, today marks a first for Toys & Stuff - an embedded video showing the operation of the toy. It is a nifty toy and works quite well even if Dino does fall down sometimes :-)  Enjoy!

Burger King BK Kids Club 1998 Cartoon Network Dino Race Car

Here's a nifty little race car from 1998. Offered as as Burger King BK Kids Club toy, it was one of four cars in the series, but it is the only one with a Flintstones theme, and so it finds its way into our  Flintstones Friday post. It has a pull-back motor, which as its name implies, means you roll the toy back on the table or floor, which serves to wind an inner spring, and then ya let go! I really like how the designers Dino's arms covering Fred's eyes LOL what a hoot.  It's just that right cartoon touch. Enjoy!
