Back to Hogwarts: LEGO Set No. 76432 Forbidden Forest Magical Creatures - Part 2 Built-up

This is a nifty set in that it's comprised of five separate modules that one can use all connected or split up as you desire. I didn't do a complete photo essay for each one of these modules because I just wanted the set to get built an on the train layout like ASAP. Essentially, the modules are:

-Baby Thestral

-Tree with large spider web and bat

-Base with Ron and Hermione

-Buckbeak

-Spooky tree with Cornish Pixie ("...Devilish tricky little blighters they can be!")

The five modules can be connected and set up as a ring, taking up less shelf space, or laid out in-line. While I'm not a big fan of the trees I do get it - they're LEGO, and they are what they are. I have some thoughts/budding plans on doing a Magical Forest vignette for next year's train layout but will need some more stuff - specifically model railroading supplies. To be continued (I hope).

In the movie, Hermione feeds Buckbeak dead ferrets, but the LEGO set has her holding a drumstick (hmmm did she make a quick trip to KFC?). Ron looks scared or perplexed - as usual.

Here's what came of the photo shoot with my new Harry Potter Lego set. I love it and now am thinking of picking up maybe one or two (or three, or four, or...) more sets! LOL Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Okay - I have to admit I goofed here: You'll notice Luna is holding The Quibbler right side up but she normally reads it upside down! Sorry - force of habit on my part, I mean, I'm not in the habit of reading newspaper's upside down myself.

You can remove the harness piece from Momma Thestral and replace it with one of the extra bricks included so that she can be posed without that thing hanging from here. However, I didn't do that this time around.

My grand daughter and I spent a nice evening assembling this set. She assembled the tree while I tackled the carriage and figures. She struggled a bit because she's not used to reading instruction manuals or Legos, but she came through like a champ. I struggled a bit trying to read the instructions upside down! LOL (the booklet was facing my grand daughter while I sat across the kitchen table from her trying to read it upside down). In the end, it all turned out just fine. After these photos were taken, I took another series of pics in my own Harry Potter forest, but that'll be another post. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

You can pose the Thestral without the hitch by taking the hitch piece off and replacing it with a small brick which is included in the set

Back To Hogwarts: A Sweet Gift, Lego's Set No. 76400 Hogwarts Carriage and Thestrals (2022) - Pt 1

Okay, okay, I know: technically "Return to Hogwarts" month was last month but hey, when you're a Potterhead any month (or any week for that matter) is Return to Hogwarts time!

Sooo, yesterday my grand daughter and her mother went to Wal-Mart. My grand baby (at nine years old she's not a 'baby' any more - except to Oma and Opa - she'll always be our baby!) had a few dollars burning a hole in her pocket and, according to her, couldn't decide what to buy. Then, all of a sudden she says to her mother, "Opa's always nice to us, I'm going to buy him something." She went straight to the Lego section of the toy department and picked this Hogwarts Carriage and Thestrals set for me! Awwwwwww 💓💓💓 She's my little Schatzie! 😀

AND, can you believe it, this is my very first Lego set that belongs to me! I wasn't into Lego when I was younger (and back then in the Stone Age, they weren't all that exciting to begin with). My kids had Lego sets that I bought them, but I have never owned a set of my own! Oh brother, I just thought of something: this may send me down a path I'm not ready for yet!
