Here is one of the coolest rockets to come out of the '50s and yet it's really not a toy - although I'm willing to bet that's how it got used more often than not. It's the Fosta plastic Rocket Ship coin bank. It's made of two identical castings glued together to form the hull. One casting is yellow with red and black details while the other has flip-flop colors in red with yellow and black details, both of which have a coin slot just ahead of the cockpit which is integral to the leading edge of the fin. I have seen these banks on eBay with no detailing whatsoever, simply red & yellow. This rocket is a variation of the 'pointy tube with fins' design but the fuselage here is more bulbous - the better for kiddies to stash away more coins saving for their toy ray gun - and measures 10" (25.4cm) H x 3 1/2" (8.9cm) W. The Fosta Rocket Ship Bank is a quintessential 1950s space ship collectible and belongs on the mantel of any serious collector! Enjoy!
