Train Time - WWII Pennsylvania RR Ad

It's been some time since we've had a 'Train Time' post on Thursday even though the Marxville Plastic Accessories series usually appear on Thursday's. Today we have a treat in that it's the first post of a large format ad made with our new scanner.

A couple of months ago I broke down and bought an Epson WorkForce WF7610 large format printer/scanner/copier and after using it the past few weeks am I glad I got this. This was something I've wanted to do for many years because we've got so many large photos, paper building templates, ads, posters,and souvenirs to scan that won't fit on the typical dinky little desktop scanner. The picture you see below was from a large format magazine popular back in the day (although I don't know which one as it's not marked and the seller didn't know either) and measures about 10" (25.4cm) x 14" (35.6cm) - way too big for a normal scanner. I may not use the printer function too much unless I can find cardstock large enough for it so that I can print out scans of paper buildings. Most paper available for large format printers is your basic thin office paper. Anywho - Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma bettina

Vintage Train Ad - 1945 Milwaukee Road "Pheasant Sandwiches…"

Wow, it's been so long since we've featured a vintage Milwaukee Road ad I've almost forgot about them. I came across this scan in my files that somehow got missed so without further ado - Enjoy!

Vintage Ad - Martin Mariner, May 1945

It's been a while since I've posted a vintage ad so why not do it now. This ad for the Martin Mariner was on the reverse side of a Milwaukee Road ad that's already been posted here on Toys and Stuff. The Martin PBM Mariner was a seaplane patrol bomber which entered service in 1940 and remained in service in the U.S. until 1956 and with the Dutch until 1959. Enjoy!

Admiral TV Ad - 1952

Just for the heck of it I thought I'd post this cool vintage Admiral TV ad. It's on the reverse side of a Milwaukee Road ad that I have, unfortunately, it's one of the ads I don't have a year for. It's not printed on the page and the seller didn't list the year either, but it has a very definite late '40s / early '50s feel to it. Enjoy!

Ad - August 1943 Airlines of The United States

For the longest time Friday's here at Toys & Stuff was devoted to Fire Trucks and Emergency Vehicles, then it segued to Flintstones. However, quite frankly I just haven't been up to photographing stuff the past month or so and really let things slip. Much of what's been posted recently are from older sessions. So for that, I apologize and hopefully some energy will find its way into my crumbling old frame and we'll get to see some Flintstones stuff before long. That being said, I do like to post things every day if possible - something - ANYTHING! Sooooo, today I've got a nifty ad from 1943 promoting both the airlines of America and indirectly, the war effort. This ad was on the reverse side of one of the train ads posted here on Train Time Wednesday. Enjoy!
