It's been two years since we posted any West Bros. candy containers but we finally got another one, the City Garage. In 1914 West Brothers put out a series of 16 candy containers which consisted of a glass container held to a tin-litho building cover with a small wire clip called a 'grasshopper' which fit into slots at the bottom of each building. These are small at 1 3/4" (4.4cm) W x 2 3/4" (7cm) H x 2" (5.1cm) D, so it's no wonder that they didn't hold a lot of candy, 1oz I believe. They're nice buildings and have even been used as the basis for a series of paper models by Howard Lamey and Paul Race called 'Tribute to Tinplate'. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
