Today Toys & Stuff features another classic Lionel accessory, the #42 Whistle Station. Made from 1937 - 42 it measures 5 1/2" (14cm) L X 3 3/4" (9.5cm) W X 4" (10.2cm) H. The graphics on the front and back walls are the same as are the graphics on both end walls. One end has two hook-up terminals while the other end has a small lever one presses down on to activate the whistle. The roof was somewhat raised above the walls to allow the whistle sound to emanate from the station. These buildings killed two birds with one stone: kids had a terrific little station that didn't take up a lot of toy train real estate and for the youngster who may not have had a train with integral whistle he got some sound effects as well. Enjoy!
