Jaymar #255 39 PC Rairlroad and Village Construction Set - Pt 4 School

Today on Toys and Stuff we feature the School from the the mid-1950s Jaymar paper village set. This was another building which wasn't included in the smaller 34pc villages and actually comes as a two-piece ensemble, consisting of the school and the flagpole. The School measures 3 5/8" (9.2cm) W x 6 3/4" (17.1cm) D x 5 1/2" (14cm) H. The flagpole is 4 3/8" (11.1cm) W at the base x 6 1/4" (15.9cm) H.

The School was missing one half of the bell tower roof so I made a replacement piece as detailed in the photos below. Enjoy!

All the buildings are printed on one long piece of cardboard which folded to make the four walls. The smaller buildings fit on the scanner platen nicely but the large ones need multiple scans to complete. As stated in an earlier post, this time around most of the scans will be posted in their unedited state allowing you to make whatever changes you feel necessary.

The reason I'm doing it this way is because quite frankly I'm totally clueless as to how to convert the scans into scaled kits that can simply be cut out and assembled. I don't know what software to use in accomplishing this.

The top portion of the photo shows the replacement roof

I simply inserted the below scan into a Word document - no resizing, no further editing - printed two copies onto cardstock to increase thickness, cut them out, glued them together, cut the slots for the tabs, and installed it on the bell tower

Hi-res scan

  1. Photoshop. You can scale the daylights out of it.

  2. On a scale of 1-10 I'm probably at a 2 regarding Photoshop. I pretty much thought it could be done there but haven't even tried yet. Just too many demands on my time right now to sit and figure it out. One day, one day.
