Normally I like to post space ships and sci-fi stuff on Saturdays. Why? Heck I don't know, it just sort of worked out that way, but I must say that growing up in the '50s Saturday's certainly had their fill of sci-fi adventure on the tube. Late mornings and early afternoon's had westerns, thrillers, comedies, and of course those wonderful 'B' monster and space flicks so I guess I associate Saturday's with that. But with the coming of our beautiful little granddaughter Melody we tend to get pre-occupied.with other things and our normal schedule may be preempted from time to time. :-)
Today I thought it would be nice to showcase this Nifty '50s toy from Dillon-Beck Wannatoy. Like most of the toys made during that era, the same casting was available in multiple - and bright - colors. The two wheels underneath allowed it roll freely but quite frankly they weren't strong enough to stand up to rough play and often times are found broken. They do however make a terrific addition to one's classic era space fleet. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
Shown for comparison is a 3" Flash Gordon Spaceship
