We continue today with our look at Civil War toy soldiers with BMC's #40028 Battle of Appomattox in 54mm. The set consists of 18 figures in six poses. I have mixed feelings about this set. The sculpting for the action figures is okay, nothing special, just your average clunky toy soldiers. Okay fine. The two personage figures, Gen's Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee are excellent and BMC also offers these as painted metal figures. The issues are with the flag bearer. Not the sculpting because it's okay and the flags are a separate casting so that they can be removed - a very nice feature. No, the problem is with the quantity of flag bearers - 4 in a bag of 18 figures. That's 22% of the bag containing nothing but flag bearers. I'm sorry, but that's way too many, that's just overkill. More of the other action figures in the bag would have been better. In any case, here's yet another group of soldiers for your Civil War display. Enjoy!

If you look closely at his right arm he appears to be a 2-piece casting. Why?
