eBay seller Peter Wassmiller (homemadetoys) has been producing copies of Marx toys as well as re-purposed old Marx toys and trains and all new designs for some years now. I've been fortunate enough to latch on to several of his pieces, the most recent an add-on building for the Marx Tom Corbett Space Academy. To-date I've only featured his Marx Diner and Army Fuel depot but for the next few days we'll take a look at some of his Army vehicles starting with this Searchlight Truck. This is made of a much thinner metal sheet stock than was the original Marx Airflow trucks. The design is original as to the best of my knowledge Marx never paired the Airflow truck with a searchlight. Marx's version was made from a heavier metal stamped into shape, while this one is a more 'hands-on' approach. The searchlight, while utilizing an original Marx light can, is a dummy and not actually hooked up to a battery so it is there for show. It does faithfully replicates the look of a 'what-if' Marx toy at a fraction of the cost. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
