Vintage Dino Profiles: Marx Hadrosaurus

Perhaps they didn't mean it to be, but Marx's Hadrosaurus (meaning:bulky lizard), with that smiling hand-wave pose, turned out to be one of the silliest looking dinosaur sculpts to come out. The herbivorous Hadrosaurus was one of the so-called "duck-billed" donosaurs which lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous around 80-78mil years ago. Hadrosaurus is now a nomen dubium (dubious name), because the fossils are no longer thought to represent a distinct dinosaur type.

Marx's toy measures 5" (12.70cm) L x 2 3/4" (6.98cm) H. My sample, being a bright green, may have beem one of Marx's later 70's version's which were made with a lead-free plastic. To-date I do not yet have an original '57 version in that nice mint green plastic that was my favorite growing up back in the day. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
