Having had a burst of energy recently, I spent much of yesterday photographing and editing the last set of figures Marx included as part of their Training Center playsets: the 45mm Sailors and Marines in light gray SP. At some point, Marx also made these in a very light blue and I had several among my hoard, but not enough to make a complete set. As these were made in the mid-1950s, just after the end of the Korean Conflict, there's not much by way of 'action' poses and what you see is appropriate for a more laid back Training Center environment. There were twelve individual poses in the group and none of them have the Marx hallmark on the bases.

Here are a few light blue examples I have in the collection.

Wow, I love those sets in the Wish book Ed! Foreign Legion, American Wildlife, even Robin Hood. Your marching men are very cool too!
ReplyDeleteMarx produced a wonderful array of sets Woodsy that's for sure. I had a couple of them as a kid remember them fondly!
