Before I start the next series of figures I thought it best to re-post the three different airplanes that were included with the Marx Battleground playsets:
-P-47 Thunderbolt
-P-51 Mustang
-Japanese Zero
It seems a real shame, but the airplanes Marx included in its earlier Training Center playsets were much larger - they were awesome. These, on the other hand, are diminutive by comparison and are rather wimpy! Back in the '50s or early '60s, if you wanted a decently sized P-47 that would nearly match the 54mm figures in size, you would have had to buy a nice Hubley diecast plane.
These were originally posted nearly three years ago as stand-alone airplane posts. Now, as we've been covering the figures and accessories for the Marx Training Center and Battleground playsets, it seems fitting they be a part of this series as well. It measures 4.75" (12.06cm) L x 5.75" (16.60cm) wingspan x 1.625" (4.12cm) H. My sample is missing the propeller and has damaged cockpit framing but the wheels are intact.
