King & Country 54mm Sands of Iwo Jima - MC014 Marine Kneeling Firing Rifle

One of the classic battle poses, kneeling firing rifle, can be found by every manufacturer who makes Little Green Army Men. Here's King & Country's version. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

  1. I love these figures Ed. They are like super detailed Airfix soldiers. You have a great way of photographing toys too I must say, crisp and clear with ni background. I just can't get that clarity.

    1. Thanx Woodsy! Actually the skill isn't in the photography but in the digital 'darkroom'. I use a cheap point-&-shoot camera and zoom in as close as it will allow before losing focus. Then I use Microsoft's Picture Manager (which is free) for cropping the photo close to the figure then adjust for contrast and midtones (and occasionally the dark tones to bring out details in the shadows) which much of the time will turn the background white and leave the subject crisp and clear. That's pretty much it.

On darker colored toys where dust got on them, I use my digital dusting program - Photoshop - to get rid of the offending flecks. I prefer to use Picture Manager for basic editing though.

    2. PS, One day I hope to start photographing my 21st Century/FOV figures which are every bit as nice but made in plastic (and they're cheaper!!)
