Built by North American Aviation, the B-45 Tornado was the USAF's first operational jet bomber and the first multi-engine jet bomber to be fueled in mid-air and was in service with the Strategic Air Command from 1950-59. Although an important deterrent during the time it served, budget constraints meant only 142 were built and after a fairly short operational history, was replaced by the Boeing B-47 Stratojet.
This is the last of three planes included in Ideal's "Jet Plane Assortment" Set No.4851 from 1951-54 and measures 4" (10.16cm) L x 4 7/8" (12.38cm) wingspan x 1 3/8" (3.49cm) H. Like the other planes in the set, this one was available in various colors Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
