Ed's Travelogue: Rib Mountain State Park, near Wausau, Wisconsin July 1978

During the last Ice Age the glaciers pretty much bulldozed flat the area that is now Wisconsin. There are areas within the state that, for whatever reason, the glacier sort of skirted around or didn't effect the landscape as it did other parts. If you look at the photos of the Shawano area I posted previously you can see how relatively flat the terrain is and while most of the state has low, undulating hills, Rib Mountain State Park is one of the higher areas and offers some rugged beauty to the landscape. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
