TRAIN TIME: British Great Western Railway Art Print Out in The Cave

Sometime back in the late '90s, the guys in my old shop back at Nellis AFB surprised me with this beautiful art print of a British steamer roaring through he countryside! I didn't ask where they got it from - best to allow for plausible deniability LOL It appears to be a Great Western Railway engine but I can't quite make out the nameplate over the running gear. Measuring 39 1/2" (100.33c) x  27 1/2" (69.85cm)  overall with frame, it's quite a large print.

That pretty much caps off our look at European train toys - at least for now. I'm itching to get on to other things but will keep you guys posted with any new developments. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

  1. Sorry this comment is rather late, so you may already know this by now, but the name of the locomotive in the framed print is "Pendennis Castle". The word "castle" is visible above the wheel, and the number 4079 on the front buffer beam identifies it as one of Great Western Railway's "Castle class" locomotives dating from the 1920s. The print is by the British artist Barrie A F Clark and dates from 1978 (it is on the lower right corner of the print, but is hidden by the surround). In the late 1990s the locomotive was actually in Australia, but it is now back in the U.K. in preservation at the Didcot railway museum. I hope this is helpful, and thank you for showing us your collection!
