Archer Satellite Men Slot Hand 4" SP 1954-55 - Pt 1

Wow, I can't believe it's been ten years since I last covered Archer spacemen!! Back in May 2015 I covered their 1st Series spacemen as well as their Space People series...

..and then I got distracted!

Earlier this year I made it a point to try and re-engage my Archer collecting, which wasn't easy because the figures I needed were not always available - or available when I had money. In addition, these slot hands came with accessories that are not that easy to come by. But luck was with me and I was able to finish acquiring the poses I needed as well as acquiring a complete set of accessories! Yay!

Archer made a set of figures in a hard styrene type plastic they called the 'Men of Mars' and between 1954-55 they introduced that same set in 'soft plastic' and renamed them 'Satellite Men'. The figures are 4" / 90mm and made of a soft vinyl like plastic (although, as dense as these are, you'd be hard-pressed to call them 'soft'). There were six different poses in a variety of bright colors. I'm afraid I don't have a complete set of the hard plastic Mars Men - yet! However, let's take a look at their soft plastic Satellite Men brothers.  Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

The over-the-shoulder accessories were called 'Astro Pac's' by Archer. The weapons were referred to as 'Scientific Weapons'. There were six of each in black SP, and each one had a specific name, all of which will be covered in a future post.

This ad has been floating around the internet, and only shows five of the six poses.
