New Ray #61115 1/32 Scale Battery Operated Diecast M4A3 Sherman Tank with AA Gun (1999)

I like New Ray, and always have, but unlike 21st Century / Unimax, or Forces of Valor which stayed on-point with their sets, New Ray was sloppy. What do I mean? With 21st Century and FOV you could count on all the figures and accessories for - let's say - WWII sets to match the time period. As well, their sets for Operation Desert Storm or Iraqi Freedom contained vehicles and figures specific to those conflicts. New Ray, on the other hand, mixed WWII era Sherman tanks with modern era figures. The last New Ray Sherman tank I posted had figures and interior packaging art for what appeared to be Desert Storm. This set is no different. There's a really nice WWII era M4 Sherman tank and five decidedly modern GI's as well as a modern AA gun (at least that's what I believe it to be - maybe it's a howitzer??). The radio set might be more appropriate to either the Korean War or maybe Viet Nam. The AA gun doesn't match any WWII equipment I've seen.

It's a poorly conceived, sloppily executed set. But I like the tank!

Box & Contents

No artwork on the insert but you can't escape the modern era stuff

That radio doesn't look right for WWII, but it also doesn't look right for modern era comm gear.
BTW, I only removed the tank and AA gun for photots.

Look closely. That's a Tommy gun, grease gun, an 30cal MG in the top crate - all appropriate for WWII

I'll give these guys a 60mm rating. That helmet? NOT WWII!

AA Gun

Honestly, I didn't bother researching this to see if it matched a real world piece, but it looks modern.
While the Sherman is diecast, this gun is all plastic. The barrel is fixed in place and does not lower or elevate.
