On the surface, the Payton bazooka is a much easier piece to differentiate from its Marx counterpart, being a stubbier, cut-down affair. But then again...
Here's the deal. Sometimes the shorter bazooka shows up in lots of Payton Army men, while other times the longer one is included. Take this post with a large grain of salt as I'm only surmising the short version is Payton but honestly, maybe it's some other brand, and maybe the longer version was appropriate to both Marx and Payton. Only an unopened mint-in-bag (or box) set with an intact example of the bazooka will verify whether I'm right or not.
