Gilmark Emergency Fleet - Tow Truck

In the early 1950s Gilmark produced a series of futuristic trucks in two sets of three:

1) Emergency Fleet consisting of:
-Ladder Truck
-Tool Truck
-Tow Truck (or Wrecker)

2) Super Highway Fleet consisting of
-Dump Truck
-Esso Gasoline Tank Truck
-Hi-Way Transporter Tractor-Trailer

From what I can gather the trucks weren't marketed as futuristic but that design ethic was kind of in vogue with toy companies starting already in the 1930s and continuing unabated even now as evidenced by many Hot Wheels offerings and of course, the beloved Batmobile's. Some, but not all, of the trucks were a cab-over-engine (COE) design and had tilt back cabs which revealed the engine underneath. Today we're gonna feature the Tow Truck which does have the tilt-back cab. Although Gilmark made these trucks in a variety of colors, this combination of silver, gold, and blue is my favorite. The truck measures 4 5/8" (11.7cm) L x 1 5/8" (4.1cm) W x 1 3/4" (4.4cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
