2013_08_30 Moon Rise & Stormy Skies

soooo, Bettina gets up from bed before 5AM, grabs the camera and takes some cool Moon pics. And me, I wait 'til 10AM and make silly pics LOL

Later, the clouds rolled in and we got some more rain and a bit of thunder but not the torrential downpour like earlier in the week.  Enjoy!

Innovative Time Corp Flintstones Battery Operated Alarm Clock

Now here's a cool Flintstones gadget I wish I would have had as a kid, the battery operated alarm clock from Innovative Time Corp. There was a battery operated version as well as a wind-up version both dating from about 1992 - probably to ride the crest of popularity ushered in by 'The Flintstones' live action movie. The clock case is hard plastic but the ringer, clapper, and hands are metal. The center picture features Fred's Flivver with Fred taking Barney and Bamm-Bamm for a ride. Dino of course has to hitch a ride. The clapper has a Stone Age bird applique. The second 'hand' is actually a clear plastic disc with a Pterodactyl cartoon picture applied which appears as if it's flying around the perimeter as the seconds tick by. Enjoy!

Notice the Pterodactyl second hand buzzing around the perimeter. The hour and minute hands are designed to look like clubs.

Bachman Plastiville Bus

Wow, lately I've really been using up my stock of old photos having taken the ones you see here nearly three years ago. I ask myself how come it takes so long to post things but I haven't given myself any good answers yet LOL  I've only got a few plastic buses in the collection to go with the cars and trucks so what the heck, I might as well post 'em huh? Today's selection is from the venerable Plasticville line from Bachman and measures 6" (15.2cm) L. My bus is a dark green but they came in white, gray, yellow, and most likely a variety of other colors. Okay, until the next bus arrives - Enjoy!

2013_08_27 Sunset over Las Vegas

Both Bettina and Shelly were busy this evening taking photos. Las Vegas made the national news with all the rain and associated flooding - especially the run-off from Mt Charleston. The Kyle Canyon area got over 4" of rain the other day and the flood waters rushed into the Valley bringing with them the charred remnants of the Carpenter 1 fire. It was said the torrent smelled like ash and the chemicals from the fire retardant used to quell the fire was frothing about - yech! Fortunately for us though that was all in the northwest part of the Valley and we live in the northeast. As a matter of fact, our neck of the cactus saw very little rain. The system bringing in all that moisture is still with us and the clouds have made for some beautiful pics - Enjoy!

First up is a still and .gif from Bettina

Next, a few stills from Shelly

Japan - Kyowa Toy Co. Boeing 727 TWA (WAS Japan 'A' - Boeing 727 TWA)

***UPDATE 2023-12-27***

I may have posted this several years ago but by gosh, if new info arrives then it's always best to set the record straight. A few months after posting airliner, I posted a Greyhound bus by Kiowa and the manufacturer's logo was the same. Unfortunately I never actually caught it and the error slipped by me unnoticed. Sooo, to set the record straight, this nifty little airliner has been identified as Kiowa Toy Co. of Japan

It's been over a year since I've posted an airliner - guess it's time to get back in the groove. Here's a nice one from a Japanese company I'm calling 'A' and measures 10 1/2" (26.cm) L x 8 3/8" (21.3cm) WS x 2 3/4" (7cm) H. The problem is, when looking at the logo on the aircraft I'm pretty certain it's not really an 'A' but a Japanese character. After visiting several good websites with many toy manufacturer logos, this one is simply not mentioned or shown. I'll figure it out. In the meantime - Enjoy!
