LNJ 1976 Flash Gordon Spaceship

Today Toys & Stuff is picking up on a the Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon thread that we've been featuring for some weeks now. I had the good luck to get both a carded version and loose version of this toy within a week of each other for a decent price and was excited to be able to add it to the classic space ship fleet. The toy is copyrighted 1975 but most likely didn't hit store shelves until 1976. According to Wikipedia:

"LJN was an American toy company and video game publisher in operation from 1970 to 1995. It manufactured toy lines and released video games based on licensed properties from movies, television shows and celebrities. It was headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, New York City,[1] and later in Lyndhurst, New Jersey"

The company made a lot of licensed tie-ins and a search of eBay will find some pretty cool toys from back then. This particular toy, while modern, hearkens back to classic sci-fi comic strip space ship design much like the Gearbox Toys line of die cast Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon space ships featured here on Toys & Stuff the past couple of months. It is also similarly sized at 2 5/8" (6.7cm) L x 3 3/4" (9.5cm) wingspan making it a great companion piece to those. Enjoy!
