After taking a break last week from Lord of The Rings toys, we again continue with our series of Play Along toys, Armies of Middle Earth, Soldiers and Scenes sets. This time we go back to the Prologue, during the firt battle before the Gates of Mordor. Elendil and Isildur are in a fight for their lives. Elendil loses but Isildur triumphs by cutting off the finger of the Dark Lord - the finger whereupon rested the One Ring, thereby setting in motion the story that would later be chronicled by Bilbo and some guy from a more recent time by the name of J.R.R. Tolkien :-) Of all the toy figure bad guys on the market, my favorite by far is Sauron. He just looks cool, what can I say? I also like how his suit and headgear imagery is borrowed from that spiny architecture of the Dark Tower. The Sauron figure included in this set still has all of his fingers so he hasn't yet met his match at the hands of Isildur. It's a neat set, but with a little surprise which I'll mention below. Enjoy!
