For the past couple of weeks we've been spot lighting a series of early plastic cars by Gilmark called the 'Build-A-Car' series. The fifties were a time when educational toys really started to take hold on all levels and many toy comapanies offered toys which had to be put together by the kids. Some of the toys were large, others small, many of them mechanical in nature like Erector sets. Marx made a similar set of put together plastic cars which was part of their 'Take-a-part' line. That line offered smaller cars in approx. 1/43 scale to go along with their service station and Marxville lines. Without further ado, here's the Gilmark Build-A-Car in red and gray hard plastic. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
That's one cool plastic car Ed. Looks very simple in design but very appealing. Reminds me of Gilmark's space vehicles.
ReplyDeleteThanx Woodsy! I came across these quite by accident in one of my random searches and am quite pleased with them. Lately the Gilmark space ships and cars have dried up some but these things do go in cycles.
