Rapaport Bros. Cast Metal Buck Rogers Figure: Dr. Huer 54mm

Dr. Huer is Buck Roger's friend - much like Dr. Zharkov is Flash Gordon's friend. I was always more into Flash Gordon than Buck and that may have played a part in me not being overly interested in these Buck Rogers toys. Even in 1979 when the television series came out, I largely ignored it, but enjoyed the heck out of the Flash Gordon movie of 1980! Now, I cannot explain that, because the comic book art and Republic serials of the '30s and '40s are so much alike in their look and feel that they're almost interchangeable. It is what it is. This figure is also 54mm, like Wilma Deering. Anywho, here's the good doctor - Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Rapaport Bros Buck Rogers Spaceship

Time to get spacey again! It's been a while since I felt like doing much of anything but I got off my duff this week and managed to work up a post on this terrific Buck Rogers toy from the 1930s. Back in the day, ca 1934/35, Rapaport Brothers sold a 'Junior Caster' set which allowed kids to pour molten pot metal or lead into molds to make their own toys! One of those sets featured characters and space ships from the then hugely popular Buck Rogers comic strip. Many of the toys cast back then still survive as do many of the casting sets. One can still buy modern day 'pours', or repos, from people who own one of these caster sets. I believe the space ship featured today was an original casting from back then. It measures 4 1/2" (11.43cm) L x 2 1/4" (5.71cm) H x 1/2" (1.27cm) W at the base. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Not being too familiar with the Buck Rogers Universe, I have no idea if this space ship was one of the good guys or bad guys!

The top fin is supposed to run in a straight line along the top but I've noticed many of the fins have sagged, either through handling or perhaps improper care upon removing from the mold.
