Kayro-Vue Productions The Munsters Photo Play

Setting up the Haunted Village has been pretty fun, just getting out in The Cave when a few free minutes happened to come my way and messing with things in general. So I had the Munster family but what to do with it it? I don't have the Munster house - which is actually pretty large - so I made do with what I have and posed them by this haunted fixer-upper 2-story cottage. Kayro-Vue Productions The Munsters - Pt 4 Grandpa Munster

The last of the four Kayro-vue The Monsters figures we offer is Grandpa (or Grampa) as played by Al Lewis. His character's name on the show was actually Count Sam Dracula hahahaha - say hello to Sam!  :-)  The figure measures 3 3/8" (8.57cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina Berg

Kayro-Vue Productions The Munsters - Pt 3 Eddie Munster

Universal Studios originally produced iconic monster movies featuring Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Wolfman (among others) and also produced The Munsters television series. Because they owned the rights to the characters they could play with any subsequent characterizations - and play they did. The tongue-in-cheek approach to The Munsters was great. In Eddie Munster we have a little boy incarnation of The Wolfman - a typical all-American boy, apart from being a werewolf played by Butch Patrick. The Kayro-vue figure measures 2 3/4" (6.98cm) H. Kayro-Vue Productions The Munsters - Pt 2 Lily Munster

Lily Munster was played by veteran Hollywood actress Yvonne DeCarlo. One of the running gags in the series is when Lily 'dusted' the house with an Electrolux vacuum cleaner which deliberately spit out dust on surfaces that others would normally be trying to clean up. Kayro-Vue Productions The Munsters - Pt 1 Herman Munster

I don't know who all made Munster figures over the years but I'm glad to have been able to latch on to these from Kayro-vue Productions. The set doesn't include Marilyn - the normal (to us) looking blonde niece - but Herman, Lily, Eddie, and Grampa (or Grandpa) are nicely represented. I just wouldn't have felt that my Haunted Village would be complete without these guys. The show only ran for two seasons but it left an endearing impression on pop culture and who can forget the marvelous Munster Koach and Drag-U-La cars? I'll post one figure a day as time permits starting with Herman (played by Fred Gwynne in the series) who measures 3 5/8" (9.20cm)  H. I'm not sure when these were made but the underside of the base has a copyright of 1964 which was probably the original pre-production copyright date of The Munsters series by Universal. The toys may be '80s or '90s but right now - until I can get a definitive answer - that's just conjecture. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
