It's been kinda busy here trying tp photograpg stuff to post so okay, bear with me here folks as I try to get this small Army vehicle stuff out of my system. I still have maybe 8 or 10 more posts and then I think I'll be done with it for a while. 

The repos came in olive green (or olive drab depending on your color vision), tan, silver, and dark blue. I've already posted the set of dark blue repos and will now start to post the olive drab/green set. Firs up for now is the DUKW. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Marx Military Flatcar Load - DUKW Silver-Gray HP

Next up in our look at Marx military flatcar loads for their O-gauge trains is this DUKW (known by it's nickname 'Duck"). According to Wikipedia, 

"The name DUKW comes from the model naming terminology used by GMC: "D" for designed in 1942, "U" for "utility", "K", all-wheel drive, and "W" for tandem rear axles." 

Ducks were a fascinating vehicle and many WWII era DUKWs are still in use today by companies who give rides in them to tourists (as an aside, I rode in one of the famous Wisconsin Dells Ducks as a youngster - cool to be sure!). One of their unique features was the ability for the driver to adjust tire pressure from within the cab for either hard roads, or soft sand type terrain. The toy is a silver-gray hard plastic, a color common to Marx railroad accessories of the time (and this was definitely a railroad accessory) and measures  3 3/4" L x 1 1/2" W x 1 1/8" H. Enjoy!
