Tri-ang SpaceX Superset 1 No. 1175 - Pt 14 OUTER SPACE TRAVEL SERIES Nuclear Freighter NF II Yellow-Green (early version)

The Nuclear Freighter II I received in the set was an early version with large, separately molded fins. Unfortunately, like several other pieces which came with my set, this one had issues. The wheelsets had been broken and re-glued (badly) at some point in the past, and only two of the three were still attached. Those two eventually broke off again after some handling and I filed down the nubs and decided to photograph the toy sans wheels. At some time I may try to fix it, but it still works as a static display piece. Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

Variations

EARLY VERSION
(There is one more color variation I don't have: Green fuselage-yellow wings with large separately molded fins).

Yellow fuselage-Green wings (large separately molded fins)

LATER VERSIONS
Green fuselage-orange wings (small fins integrally molded into fuselage)

Orange fuselage-green wings (small fins integrally molded into fuselage)

This photo was taken when the piece had two wheelsets which had been re-glued onto it. Through handling they both broke off.

Triang SpaceX Nuclear Freighter NF2

The design inspiration for this Nuclear Freighter - shown here at SpaceX Central - is of a craft far larger than this dimnutive toy. If this were built to the scale of the 25mm figures that came with it, you'd need an entire garage to house it in!  I'm assuming that the visible components in the covered bay are part of the nuclear engine for this craft. On my sample, the hinged clear plastic door is warped. The toy measures 3" (7.62cm) L x 2 5/8" (6.66cm) wingspan x 1 1/8" (2.85cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
