Mattel 2011 L2593 Hot Wheels Arkham Asylum Batmobile

This week Toys & Stuff exits the Marvel Universe and re-enters the DC Universe to present yet another Batmobile! I went to Target last week and came across this Hot Wheels Arkham Asylum Batmobile for only .99cents! It's a terrific little die-cast rendition measuring only 2 3/4" (6.8cm) L. Next week we'll probably be re-entering the Marvel Universe as Wolverine decided to pay me a visit.  Enjoy!

2011 Batman The Brave and The Bold Set #1: Batman, The Penguin, & Batmobile

Today we start another new Batman related series here at Toys & Stuff. This is the most recent McDonald's "Batman The Brave and The Bold" set #1 featuring Batman, The Penguin, and the Batmobile, all of course based on Cartoon Networks television cartoon of the same name. I've been  doing a little research - eBay :-) - and it appears that McDonald's has been offering Batman related toys since the early '90s. It also appears as if there's not a whole heck of a lot of different sets. What this means for the cost conscious collector on a budget is that one could conceivably acquire a complete McDonald's collection without necessarily laying out a lot of money and it also wouldn't take up a whole lot of room. 

The figures in this series are nicely sculpted, although they lack in the fancy features of more expensive toys sold individually. All the figures in this Brave and Bold series stand about 2" tall (5.1cm) and are made of a somewhat pliable soft plastic. None of them have articulated joints and there are no 'special' features. They are nice, small, toy figures of popular comic book characters. The Batmobile's wheels are molded into the body  but it does roll through the expedient of two rollers placed underneath the chassis. I did have one note of disappointment in today's set. The Batman figure cannot stand up on his own. His feet are so crookedly molded that he simply will not stand up on his own and had to be braced on something in order for me to take these photos. Perhaps I'll order another one to see if this is perhaps a recurring issue. Until Then - Enjoy!

Corgi #77361 1930s Batmobile - Chassis Art Collection

Well, I didn't really think there would be anything posted today but somehow I managed to get some photos taken of one of my latest acquisitions - the Corgi #77361 1930s Batmobile from its Chassis Art Collection.  The set includes a nicely done 1:43 scale die-cast 1930s Batmobile, a cool statuette of a retro Batman, and a Certificate of Authenticity all packaged in a nice silver foil and black box. I've said it before that just because something is 'limited edition' that doesn't necessarily impress me, but there were two things which drew me to this particular offering. First was the statuette. I couldn't help but be drawn to this really neat looking 1930s retro Batman. You'll notice that this is the only statuette in the series sculpted in an action pose! All the others are just standing there as if posing for their portrait. This one 'moves'!! The second thing which I liked was the different paint scheme on the Batmobile. If you look at my previous post of 31 Oct 2010, you'll see that Corgi initially produced this car in an all red scheme. The Chassis Art edition is rendered a gorgeous red and black paint job and I believe I like this one better than the earlier version. Let's get on to the photos. Enjoy!
