ARRRRGH - OMG Shopping At Wal-Mart During The Pandemic

Wellll, it had to happen sooner or later. Going to Wally World - aka Wal-Mart - that is. As I can no longer access the Commissary on Nellis AFB I have to forage elsewhere. That's a shame because the reality is that the Commissary is the closest supermarket to our house. There used to be a Wal-Mart right across from the main gate of Nellis but that got closed down years ago during the Great Recession. There are stores like Dollar General and  Family Dollar but of course being much smaller stores - akin to corner grocery stores - they have a much reduced selection of products. Here's the rub: there is a large Wal-Mart neighborhood market closer to us, but I needed to buy a couple of things from the department store side so that meant a longer trip to the nearest Supercenter.

OMG!!

I am just at a loss to frame my thoughts into a cohesive rant but this experience was a testament to the fallacy of 'Social Distancing' and the reality of shopping during a pandemic.

Okay, for starters we pull into the parking lot and it is nearly full. You know, like Black Friday full -  not quite but getting there. As one nears the entrance there are these fancy stickers on the pavement reminding people to maintain their 6ft of 'social distancing'. There are employees and security guards reminding people of the same. We were lucky in that we got there during a lull and didn't have to wait to get inside.

Once inside we see those same stickers on the floor by every cashier and customer service station and people are dutifully standing on them. Fine

BUT THE REST OF THE STORE IS SO DAMNED CROWDED IT'S LIKE BEING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ANT COLONY!!!

Oh yeah, and MASKS? hahahahahahaha, what a friggin' JOKE!!! I estimated only 1/3 of the people in there were wearing masks. Well, so much for that whole close contact vs social distancing vs safety measures vs. whatever-the-hell else public officials are shoving down our throats!!! The reality is people need groceries. They need drinks.  They need lotion and toothpaste and Tampons and TP, bread and butter and milk from the udder, a toy for Jane and socks for Zane, soothing CD's and honey from bees. That doesn't stop just because a bug is floating around! Not a nice bug, mind you - I get that. But I also get it's not going to kill everyone on this planet like the media may want you to believe. Yeah, it sucks - no doubt about it. But life goes on - and it WILL go on!

AND ANOTHER THING WAL-MART

WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU LIMITING PEOPLE TO

1 CAN OF SOUP??????????
 1 SMALL PACKAGE OF RICE???????
1 OF ANY FOOD PRODUCT??????????

THAT IS THE MOST BRAIN-DEAD, IMBECILIC POLICY IMAGINABLE - FAMILIES CAN'T GET BY ON THE MORSELS YOU'RE DOLING OUT YOU STUPID FOOLS!!!!!!

I get limiting things like wipes. I grew up during an age where such things as wipes simply didn't exist. Want to clean? Mom took a rag and some soap or cleaning solution and cleaned. No wipes. Want to dry your hands? That's what the hand towel was for - no paper towels!

Well there you have it. I certainly do hope you live in an area not broadly impacted by COVID-19. For us city folk it's, welllll, it's a challenge. Especially when we have to put with knucklehead policies by both government and retailers!
