Peter Wassmiller: Rex Mars/Tom Corbett HM Marx Compatible Space Training Center - Pt 3 with Tom Corbett Figures

Here's the handmade Training Center populated with original Marx 45mm Tom Corbett figures to give you an idea of what this thing would look like in a diorama setting. I have the complete set of Marx Tom Corbett figures but haven't yet photographed them In a way I'm kinda not looking forward to it because it's quite a big set. However, if I'm ever going to catalog all these vintage spacemen, then it's gotta get done. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Here's the suggested furniture placement

I obviously did mine differently - just because!

There are over twenty separate poses in the 45mm Tom Corbett line and including them all in this small of a space would look awkward as heck, so these are the ones I chose to include in the photographs.

The ladder was suggested to be placed on the outside of the building, however, Peter included graphics for a hatch just above where this ladder is placed. It seemed more logical to have some way to get up to that hatch.

Chinese Hand Made Tin Apollo V Rocket and Launch Pad

Over the years I've had several of these handmade toys/displays (see pics below) and  every time I get rid of one I tell myself, "No more."...

...until the next time LOL

Welllll, I did it again. This time it was a hand made Apollo V Rocket with launch pad. Overall a nice addition to the space collection. It measures 16 5/8" (42.22cm) H overall and the base of the launch pad measures 6 1/2" (16.51cm) D x 5" (12.7cm) W. The workmanship on these things are crude by design in that they're s'posed to look like they were cobbled together from bits and pieces in somebody's workshop. But in the end, those 'bits and pieces' come together to form nicely done representations of the machines they're supposed to look like. This isn't 'high art' so don't expect it to be. They are, generally speaking, relatively inexpensive display pieces to give the den or office that little unique touch. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Nothing moves on this piece. Everything is soldered together solidly.

One word of caution: it is a bear to dust and clean :-) 

Handmade M4 Sherman

Well here's the last of the handmade industrial folk art pieces I have, a very nice M4 Sherman tank. It's fairly big at 10" (25.4cm) L x 4 1/2" (11.4cm) W x 6" (15.2cm) H and being all metal, is quite stable and heavy. The turret and machine rotates and the barrel rest is adjustable but the barrel does not elevate. I don't know if  the barrel is stuck or just made that way but I'm not going to chance breaking it. The markings are based on photos of a like tank  from the Free French 1st Army circa August 1944. There is also a plastic model kit from Heller with these markings. I've included several Photoshopped pics to give it a vintage look. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
