TRAIN TIME: Brimtoy O Gauge No. 48 Tunnel (1949- ?)

I can't seem to find how long it was in production but apparently Brimtoy shut down production in 1983 so it wouldn't have gone any further than that. The tunnel disassembles into two pieces but when these photos were taken, I just didn't do that to show the process - sorry. The lithography on both halves is exactly the same so a full photo workup wasn't necessary but now I wish I would have tried to take a few more. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

TRAIN TIME: Brimtoy No. S3 Model Wayside 'FUNLAND' Station (1927-1932)

After going through my hard drive the past few weeks I have found hundreds of unedited photos: trains, vehicles, space toys, airplanes - you name it! Here's a group of pics taken four years ago that just recently were edited!

This FUNLAND Station was made from 1927-1932. The station was bought when I was trying to find that 'right' one for the Hornby layout. I mean all the stations I bought fit, but some are longer, some a bit wider, and for one reason or another just don't have the right feel for the spot chosen on the layout. So while this wasn't ultimately chosen for the layout, I now have a nice Pre-war gem on my hands for the collection! This measures 12 3/4" (32.38cm) L x 4 3/4" (12.06cm) H overall. The ramp is 3 1/8" (7.93cm) W. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Wells-Brimtoy Pocket Toys Horse Box Lorry (Truck) 1950s

While I was searching for British vehicles to populate my small Hornby layout in progress a couple of names popped up continuously in my searches: Triang-Minic and Wells-Brimtoy. There seemed to be more availability of these two brands than of any other. I pulled out a 1/43 scale vehicle and took a couple of comparison shots. As you can see by the below photos the Minic is closer to 1/43 than the Brimtoy but Brimtoy cars and lorries may still come in handy because a lot of the toy clockwork trains that run on 2-rail O-gauge are really small in comparison to full-sized O-gauge trains. I haven't yet covered size differences like that yet but hope to in the near future. This lorry measures 3 1/4" (8.25cm) L x  1 1/2" (3.81cm) W x 1 5/8" (4.12cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Many of the Brimtoy vehicles have operating features. The horses head in the rear of the truck goes in-&-out through the use of the lever on the right side.

TRAIN TIME: A Yank Does Hornby Pt 10 Brimtoy No. 8 Signal with One Arm

First coming out as a Pre-War toy, this No. 8 Signal with One Arm changed little except for the size of the bases. This version came out in 1949 measuring 9" (22.86cm) H with a 3" (7.62cm) x 3 1/2" (8.89cm) base. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
