Bachmann Bros. Inc. #STYLE LC-2 Log Cabin - REDUX - New Photos With Complete Fence

I blogged this cabin just a few days ago but, in an attempt to use old photos, posted photos of it with an incomplete number of fence pieces. Since those photos were taken I had gotten in some more Bachmann hard plastic fence pieces. Sooo, I set it up again utilizing all the correct fence pieces and using the box art as my guide. The box art was used as a guideline to set the cabin up.

The fences are hard styrene plastic and have warped with age.

Here, 45mm Payton Cowboy's are posed with the cabin for size comparison. Not a bad fit but 35mm figures would look better

Here's some 54mm Sky King figures along with the cabin. They are too big unless the cabin is placed in the back of a scene for forced perspective.

Bachmann Bros. Inc. #STYLE LC-2 Log Cabin

Here's a nice log cabin I bought a couple of years ago to use with my Western toys. This is a Bachman Bros. kit made before they started marketing their line of plastic buildings under the 'Plasticville' banner. These are relatively small structures and a cabin like this would probably work best with 35mm-45mm sized figures. If you're into Plasticville, you'll notice that there is no chimney on this early version. While the box art shows seven fence pieces, mine only came with five fence pieces, I photographed it with the five pieces (but I do have extras out in The Cave - somewhere!). I forgot to get the measurements of this so they won't be included in this post - sorry! Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

Payton Cabin - Chocolate Brown/Tan SP

Here's the second Payton cabin I got in a job lot. I like the colors on this more than the other one but I'm still thrilled to have them both - especially when I wasn't expecting them and didn't know who made them at first. Enjoy! Opa

Payton Cabin - Brown/Aqua SP

In my quest to track down vintage Old West buildings suitable for ohhh, let's say anything from about 45mm to 60mm figures I guess, comes this odd building from Payton. While I've blogged Payton Little Green Army Men before - they were a favorite of mine as a kid - this is the first time blogging any of their Old West toys which I don't recall having as a kid. I called this piece 'odd' because Payton sold it as a 'cabin' but really, it just looks more like a blockhouse for a fort than it does a cabin. But hey, it does add variety! 

Some months back, the pieces for this cabin came in a couple of separate job lots. Apparently the aqua roof would normally have been paired with aqua walls but I'm liking this combination much better! The walls 3 3/4" sq., the  roof 4 1/4" sq. and it's 3 1/4"H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

MPC's Take On Western Towns - Pt 7 Cabin v.1 as Log Cabins - Caramel Brown/Chocolate Brown SP

Well, I finally have the very last MPC Western Town building for my collection - at least that I'm aware of. It's the early style cabin walls/roof with the log cabin façade. I ended up getting a few surprises with this batch of toys. First, the front pieces only fit on the wall structures that you see in the photos. For example I tried to place the Fire House front on the black walls ultimately used for the Texas Rangers building and it just wouldn't fit. While all of these are a bear to assemble, the Fire House front only fit on the yellow walls/red roof combo. Another surprise: the Fire House and Texas Rangers are made of a different type of plastic than the Log Cabin! The first two are a rubber-like vinyl similar to that used by Auburn. The Log Cabin utilizes the same plastic as most of MPC's other plastic toys. The Log Cabin must be a 'later' early style building and has no tabs on the front walls to help hold the façade in place - nor are there any holes in the façade which would accept tabs. My next challenge will be to build some kind of dioramas highlighting all these buildings. But don't hold your breath - I'm a s-l-o-w worker! Enjoy! Opa Fritz

I'm postulating that the tooling for this particular wall/roof casting survived and that is what's used today to make the styrene plastic recasts.

You'll notice there are no tabs sticking out of the front walls.

Overall, this was the 'straightest' of the three early style buildings with only a slight bend to the floor.

Another bonus - the door is intact!! Yay!

Thw wall/roof casting is in more of a caramel brown while the façade is more of a chocolate brown.
