Well, well, well, I'm pretty much coming to a close on this latest series of O-gauge trains and accessories from Europe (mostly the UK). I may come up with another post or two but this has been going on since early February and a) I need to take more photos - but have to unbury the stuff first!! LOL and b) I'm itching to move on to other things! This signal has both home and distant semaphores and as soon as the layout in The Cave is unburied - long story - the signal that's there now will be replaced with this one (that is, until I change my mind again). Enjoy! Opa Fritz

TRAIN TIME: Hornby Tipper Question Answered
In a previous post I posed the question as to whether Hornby made a tipping mechanism for their tipping wagons in a manner similar to what Marx and Lionel made for their cars. Now, mind you, I have all the books by Foster and the Graebe Hornby bible and didn't see one anything like that in the books, however I easily miss things and posed the question just in case I missed something. A trusted source contacted me via e-mail and assured me Hornby had nothing of the sort. Question answered - Many Thanx Paul! Enjoy! Opa Fritz

TRAIN TIME: Hornby No. 20 Side Tipping Wagon ca1955-56
Here's the last piece in the short series of M0 Goods Set I've been covering the past few days. This Postwar side tipping wagon with original box was a nice inclusion to the put-together M0 Goods Set and is in very clean condition. Posting these photos made me wonder if Hornby made some form of mechanism to electrically or mechanically tip the bin. Marx made an electric tipper mechanism for its side dump cars and Lionel put solenoids in their side tip cars which were activated by a special track section, so now I'll have to do a little more digging to see if Hornby had something similar. TRAIN TIME: Hornby BP Shell Petrol Wagon ca1936 With Repainted Base
Here's another Prewar wagon which came with my M0 Goods Set. For me, it was interesting to see it lettered for 'SHELL' on one side and 'BP' on the other. Here Stateside, generally speaking, if there are two companies (like a parent company and subsidiary) lettered on a car, the lettering for both would be on both sides. The experts at the Hornby HRCA fb group have stated that the base has probably been repainted as original bases were red. Okay! Welll, maybe the base was a wreck and someone saved it, which would ring true as the tank itself normally would have been a brighter shade of yellow instead of the faded piece you see here. Whatever happened, as long as I know it's a repaint I'm okay with it. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

TRAIN TIME: Hornby No. 163502 Open Wagon ca1936
This Prewar Open Goods Wagon was a decent inclusion in the 'put-together' Hornby M0 Goods Set and the tin is in great shape. Whether it gets used with the other cars in the set or in a consist of my own making, it's a sweet little piece of tin. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

TRAIN TIME: Hornby No. 60985 0-4-0 Engine ca1955-56
This is the the engine which came with my M0 Goods Set and was listed as 'functional' by the seller. It does in fact work but has a weak mechanism. The only saving grace is that the tin is in really good shape. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
