Marx Battleground, Training Center, and Other Military Playset Pieces - Large Raft - Olive Green SP

Here's another one of those little pieces that came in Marx military playsets that I was able to latch on to recently: the large raft. Like several other accessories included in their military playsets, Marx made a small size and a large size. This larger raft was meant to hold two rowing figures - one for the left side and one for the right - neither of which I have - yet. Victory Buy Toys offers a set of repos which I will probably pick up because original rowing figures are HTF. The raft measures: 3.625" (9.20cm) L x 2" (5.08cm) W x .25" (0.635cm) H and is made of a firm soft plastic - not styrene like the exploding machine gun nest.

Marx Battleground, Training Center, and Other Military Playset Pieces - Raft - Dark Green SP

Much like the landing craft, this tiny raft that Marx included in its playsets was practically useless as a functioning play piece, being too small too fit any GI's into it. I liken it to all the little guns, belts, and other tiny detail parts Marx included in the sets being there more for ambience than to actually play with.

Okay, for this piece all these different views was probably unnecessary, but hey, I was out in The Cave taking a million pics and on a roll.

Marx Navarone Giant Playset Raft

Well, if you're one of the unfortunate souls stuck having to ride the Marx Landing Craft to the beachhead you'll know you'll end up tripping over the guys in front of you because of that huge hump in the floor of the bay. You may want to take one of these rafts instead - you may even make it to shore! Marx did make a larger raft more appropriately sized to 54mm/60mm figures but the entire Navarone veicle grouping is smaller to scale than the figures included in the set so this is what you get. It measures only 3" (7.62cm) L x 1 1/2" (3.81cm) W x 1/2" (1.27cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Here's the whole vehicle group

Had a couple of spare 'me time' ,imutes and set this up real quick. You'll notice the howitzer being pulled by the Jeep vs. the halftrack. One of these days - after I find my buried stash of Little green Army Men - I'll take another set of photos.
