Gilmark Sherman M4 Tank - OD HP

Here's the second in our very short series of Gilmark hard plastic military vehicles made from 1951 to mid-'50s, the Sherman M4 Tank. Sherman M4 you say? Yup, it doesn't bear much resemblance to the real thing but then it is only a toy. Anywho, the words 'Sherman M4' are molded into the rear of the tank hull so I guess that's what Gilmark wanted us to believe. "U.S. ARMY with star" is heat stamped in white on the left side only and it measures 3 1/4" (8.25cm) L x 1 1/2" (3.81cm) W x 1 5/8" (4.12cm) H. As far as I know there were only four vehicles in this series: Armored Troop Carrier (which I had previously mis-identified as an Armored Car), Sherman M4 Tank, Howitzer Carrier, and Armored Car (which I don't yet have). Marx or Remco?

I thought I would post this update to today's earlier post on what I believed to be a Marx playset tank. I happened across a forum called 'MAC' - the Miniature Aircraft Collector forum.  On it there was a nice photo of the Remco Whirlybird helicopter along with the accessories which came with it. Right there in a nice little header bag was this tank, a troop carrier truck, and Jeep w/cannon all of which also look like Marx issues. Okay, well it's gonna take a little more research to pin this down. In any case I hope you all enjoyed the photos, regardless of who made it! Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Marx Playset Tank (small) - SP

Now here's a blast from my past, this small-ish tank which came with several Marx playsets. I didn't have any of the iconic Marx playsets like 'Battleground' but these were also offered in header bags with a bunch of Marx's Little Green Army Men thrown in and that's where I remember these from. The tank measures 5" (12.7cm) (hull) L x 2 1/4" W x 1 3/4" H and is shorter than the Marx No. 41 but longer than the Auburn tank we've featured here. It has quite low profile and when compared to the other tanks has squat appearance.  Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
