GIANT Plastics Corp. (aka GIANT of Hong Kong) / Helen of Toy Space Toys - Pt 8 25mm Astronaut Pose 6

In so far astronaut poses are concerned, this one is a bit more relatable than the previous two posted. You'll notice that some of the photos have a bluish cast to them while the remainder have a warmer tint. That's totally the camera - sorry. It does what it wants to do and even with me shifting the position of the figure or shifting the camera sometimes nothing helps - it just wants to make things blue. Enjoy!

GIANT Plastics Corp. (aka GIANT of Hong Kong) / Helen of Toy Space Toys - Pt 6 25mm Astronaut Pose 4

I'll tell ya what - it's been a rough month and it's been hard keeping my head in the game. I noticed that I mis-numbered the series parts, so had to go back and make sure each title was numbered correctly.  Everything is back on track and there shouldn't be any more faux pas', essential in that there are still quite a few posts to go.

Moving right along, up next in our look at GIANT 25mm is another adapted Little Green Army Man figure turned Spaceman. He's posed holding a walkie-talkie - a common pose for Little Green Army Men - but he's trying to talk through his helmet!  I s'pose - whatever works! Enjoy! Opa Fritz

GIANT Plastics Corp. (aka GIANT of Hong Kong) / Helen of Toy Space Toys - Pt 5 25mm Astronaut Pose 3

***Title corrected to read 'Pose 3'***

This pose just cracks me up! Soooo, you've got toy designers back in the '60s trying to figure out what poses to come up with, and they draw their inspiration from plain-Jane Little Green Army Men and one of the most ubiquitous poses is the G.I. with land-mine detector! It's funny to think of a scenario where our Little Star Troopers are on a newly discovered planet, sweeping for land-mines 😂 Well anywho, here it is. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

GIANT Plastics Corp. (aka GIANT of Hong Kong) / Helen of Toy Space Toys - Pt 4 25mm Astronaut Pose 2 & Ed Emshwiller's 'Starship Soldier's'

While perusing my saved space art, it occurred to me that the figures appearing in this art by Ed Emshwiller (as the cover for the serialized story "Starship Soldier" by Robert Heinlein, which would later be published as the novel 'Starship Troopers') could very well have been the inspiration for the GIANT spacemen. Their similarities are just too much to ignore. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Unlike so many of the Hong Kong toy makers, GIANT marked all of their figures under the bases, making it easier to tell whether you got the original or repop.
