Ravensblight Ghost House - Pt 8 Conclusion FINALLY!

I finally finished the Ghost House by Ravensblight.com and even with a few builder's flaws am pretty satisifed with it. It's an impressive structure with lots of detail and if I decide to 'correct' my goof-ups sometime in the future I can do that at my leisure. The base measures 8 1/2" (21.59cm) W x 7 3/8" (18.73cm) D and it's 9 3/4" (24.76cm) H from the bottom of the base to the very tippy-top peaked roof! Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Ravensblight Ghost House - Pt 7

With the addition of the stairs and that small decorative dormer on the top porch railing at long last the Ghost House from Ravensblight.com is finished  That it to say, the house is finished, not the project. It comes with a nice base which will need to be assembled next. Overall I'm pleased with the results. You know, I assembled much of this building standing up! There's no place in the house to work on projects any more with a 2-yr old runnin' around and The Cave no longer has any sit-down room so I've been shoving this thing around from the washer-&-dryer to whatever little patch of open space there may have been on the in-progress train layout. Ravensblight Ghost House - Pt 6

The Ghost House by Ravensblight.com is almost finished. The instructions for the porch said to attach the top deck of the porch to the house first, then attach the two lower pieces (left and right railing assemblies). I didn't feel comfortable with this procedure: I mean, what if I screwed up and placed the top deck incorrectly on the house? Sooo, I glued all the porch sub-assemblies into on big assembly, did some final trimming, and attached the whole thing to the house. It turned out pretty good doing it that way. Ravensblight Ghost House - Pt 5

Progress is sorta steady on the Ghost House from Ravensblight.com. The latest additions are the doors and roof rails. The roof rails were a tad bit finicky because of all the half circle cut-outs required. The next step will be the porch railings. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Ravensblight Ghost House - Pt 4

S-l-o-w-l-y but surely the Ghost House by Ravensblight.com is coming around. I got the lower porch installed. It took me a while to get it assembled because I braced the ever-lovin'-livin' heck out of it! I counted about 18 pieces of stripwood cut to fit all those nooks and crannies. Enjoy! Ravensblight Ghost House - Pt 3

Progress on the Ravensblight.com Ghost House has been understandably slow but I'm okay with that, after all, it's nearly a year 'til Halloween rolls around again! So far I've managed to build and attach the Solarium (L) and the Library (R). Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Ravensblight Ghost House - Pt 2

Yup, it's for sure I'm not gonna finish this sucker by Halloween, but that's okay, I'll piddle around with it for about another month or so and at least I'll have something to blog :-) It's going together quite nicely and is quite sturdy as a result of the forest of bracing. Ravensblight Ghost House - Pt 1

It's been three years since I've built and blogged Halloween buildings from Ravensblight.com but I just wanted to do another one this year (if you go to the Ravensblight website and click on the 'Toy Shop' section you'll see a lot of wonderful Halloween-themed downloads for your crafting pleasure). I've been chomping at the bit waiting for a chance to build the Ghost House and this year I figured out a way to do it. You know it's been busy here and by evening my energy is at low ebb BUT on those evenings which find me with a little reserve of energy and when the grand baby doesn't feel like playing and is in the care of her mama or Oma, I sneak out to The Cave and try to work on the build. I'm not at all sure the house will be finished for Halloween but I'll continue to post progress on it anyway. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

The house is designed to be assembled through the use of glue tabs and doesn't require any additional bracing (however I ALWAYS brace my paper models, they end up being more durable, the walls/roofs aren't as wavy, and corners tend to be more squared off). 

The first step for me was to cut out all the pieces. Using a pencil I lightly marked the reverse side of some pieces with their intended use. Some of the roof sections look similar and are close in size so they needed marking, the rest of the pieces are easy to figure out.

Here's six hours worth of just cutting out pieces!

Also, I dind't cut out the trees, I prefer to use more three-dimensional trees versus printed out paper trees.
